John Cena’s legendary career came to a dramatic and emotional end as he was defeated by Gunther. The match was the main event of WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event. This was one of the most unforgettable matches in modern wrestling history.
The competition took place in front of a thunderous crowd and packed arena. The match was hyped as it was common knowledge that this was John Cena’s final match. John Cena is a 17-time World Champion and fought valiantly in his last match.
The atmosphere was electric from the opening bell.
When the match started Gunther quickly gained control. He used power offense with brutal chops. Gunther also drew large boos from the crowd. Every person sitting in the audience could feel that with every strike history was unfolding.
Cena eventually started feeding the audience and gradually fought back. He fired off punches, blocked a cop and delivered his career defining sequence.
The crowd almost believed that Cena would receive a fairy tale ending when Cena lifted Gunther for an Attitude Adjustment. However, Gunther even survived that refusing to yield and kicking out.
Both men competing show a gruelling sense of power, resilience and will. Cena and Gunther traded submission holds, near falls and finishers. Gunther repeatedly trapped Cena in the suffocating Sleeper Hold which targets the neck and drains strength while Cena locked him in STFU.
AT the end of the match Gunther once again locked Cena in the Sleeper hold. The crowd started chanting “don’t give up”. This mantra “Don’t give up” has defined Cena’s career. However, there was no escape overcome with exhaustion John Cena finally tapped out. And suddenly the career of the legendary Johan Cena was over.
