Lahore: Pakistan’s first ever e-registration facility has been introduced in Punjab. This marks a major digital development in public service delivery. In partnership with NADRA, the Punjab Local Government Department has finally launched the CRMS app. The initiative was inaugurated by member of provincial assembly Zeeshan Rafique. He described it as an important step towards modernizing citizen services in the province.

The launched application will allow residents to register deaths, births, divorces and marriages from the comfort of their homes. This electronic registration system will eliminate the need for physical visits to government offices, ensuring transparency, efficiency, and convenience. The app is also linked with NADRA’s central data system. This enables it to update civil records automatically. When it comes to obtaining certificates online citizens will be able to do that too. All of this information was revealed by Zeeshan Rafique.

Rafiq highlighted that the development of this innovative application was completed within a few months, showcasing the government’s commitment to rapid digital transformation. He termed the CRMS app a significant milestone in Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s Digital Punjab Vision, aimed at expanding digital governance and improving service accessibility across the province.

NADRA has also announced that individuals who register their records through the app will automatically receive a Form-B number without the need for a separate request. Furthermore, NADRA’s Chief Operating Officer revealed that the next phase of the project will include the introduction of birth and death notification tools within the application, further enhancing the efficiency of the civil registration process.
