New York: Time magazine named its Person of the Year on Thursday. They named “Architects of AI” as their person of the year. This highlighted the US tech titans whose work on AI is transforming humanity.
According to Time Magazine OpenAi’s Sam Altman, Nvidia’s Jensen Huang and xAI’s Elon Musk are among the AI innovators who have “grabbed the wheel of history, developing technology and making decisions that are reshaping the information landscape, the climate, and our livelihoods,”.
There are two covers and one of them is a homage to a famous photograph from 1932. The photograph is of iron workers casually eating lunch on a steel beam above New York City.
The magazine further added “Racing both beside and against each other, they placed multibillion-dollar bets on one of the biggest physical infrastructure projects of all time,”.
“They reoriented government policy, altered geopolitical rivalries, and brought robots into homes. AI emerged as arguably the most consequential tool in great-power competition since the advent of nuclear weapons.”
Time also credited investors like SoftBank CEO Masayoshi Son, who invested billions of dollars into AI technology. Time’s Person of the Year is the acknowledgement of the year’s most influential figure. The AI tech giants were indeed very influential this year.
Previously the title has been awarded to president-elect Donald Trump. Other who have been awarded with the title include Ukranian Leader Volodymyr Zelensky and singer Taylor Swift.
