Web Desk: John Cena has announced that signed a new five-year contract, committing to a new chapter with WWE. He stated this in a post-Raw interview.

This will mean that even after his in-ring retirement he will still be closely tied to the organization. His final match is set on December 13. Where the 48-year-old icon will be facing Gunther at WWE’s Saturday Night’s Main event.

This bout will be marking the end of a two-decade career that began in 2002. John Cena’s career has produced some of the most memorable rivalries, matches and moments in WWE history.

Gunther defeated LA Knight and earned the right to face John Cena. He defeated LA Knight in the final of The Last Time Is Now tournament on SmackDown. This sets the stage for historical farewell. However, Cena’s role as an active competitor in the WWE is ending, his future with WWE is fully secured.

Cena revealed in an interview on WWE’s YouTube channel “I will be an ambassador to WWE. I am already signed on for another five years,”.

“I would like to be in this family as an employee and as a contributing part for as long as I can.”

Interestingly, John Cena acknowledged the fact that he is now unable to perform at the physical level demanded by the WWE. However, he also emphasized that stepping away from the ring does not mean that his connection to WWE will be diminished.

He said “I can’t match up with the product now, and that’s okay because what I do isn’t who I am,”.

“I’m looking forward to the second mountain of being an ambassador, because maybe ambassadorship comes with letting more people know to watch WWE — which was my goal in the first place.”

WWE fans will be witnessing their one of most iconic wrestlers one last time. This will close perhaps the most iconic chapter in WWE history.
