Treason cases against Imran Khan cannot be dismissed, says Rana Sanaullah

Prime Minister’s Advisor on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah said that treason cases against founder Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan cannot be dismissed.

Political atmosphere is tense after the press conference of DGISPR last week. The military’s spokesperson Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry criticised Imran Khan and his party for their “anti-army” stance as DG ISPR termed the founder PTI “mentally ill” and a “threat” to national security. 

At the same time, government members also critises PTI for its anti-army rhetoric. Some government members also said that PTI is not a political party anymore.

“We cannot rule out treason case[s] being lodged against the PTI founder,” Senator Sanaullah, a senior PML-N leader and former interior minister, said during an interview on the private media channel.

Director General ISPR, Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, announced the launch of the Chief of Defence Forces Headquarters, marking a major milestone in the country’s defense structure.

DG ISPR, the establishment said of the new headquarters had long been a strategic necessity, and its inauguration is being welcomed as an important step toward strengthening joint operational capabilities of the armed forces. He has said that an individual has become a threat to country security due to his actions and narrative.

Addressing a press conference on Friday, the DG ISPR stated that while that one person keeps claiming he has done nothing, his politics has come to an end, and his narrative now poses risks to national stability.

He criticized a political figure for claiming If not me, then nothing, saying that the individual’s political relevance has already ended.

He emphasized that the elimination of negative narrative has becoming for national stability. Lt. Gen. Ahmed Sharif said that we are safeguarding the country nothing more and armed forces are not pursuing any agenda.

He said that the Pakistan Armed Forces do not pledge to any political ideology linguistic group, or religious agenda.

He said that Pakistan Armed Forces are making sacrifices every day for the motherland and its people. We are not part of any political agenda we are safeguarding the country. He stressed that no one would be allowed to create mistrust between the armed forces and the public.
