Karachi: Google has released its Year in Search 2025 report, offering a detailed look at what Pakistanis searched for throughout the year. The findings show a nation driven by cricket fever, hooked on local dramas, increasingly curious about emerging technologies and actively seeking solutions to daily challenges.
Cricket Dominates Entertainment Searches
Cricket once again topped Pakistan’s entertainment-related searches, as fans repeatedly looked up matches against South Africa, India and New Zealand. Major tournaments including the Pakistan Super League, Asia Cup and ICC Champions Trophy remained the most viewed events, underscoring the country’s unwavering passion for the sport.
Searches revealed rising interest in emerging players such as Abhishek Sharma, Hassan Nawaz and Irfan Khan Niazi, whose performances kept them among the most searched athletes of 2025.
Local dramas also maintained a strong presence. Popular serials such as Sher, Jorwan and Aas Paas dominated searches, driven by strong scripts, memorable characters and widespread fan engagement.
Tech Curiosity Surges
Pakistanis showed heightened interest in technology and artificial intelligence tools. Searches for “Gemini,” “On4t” and “Google AI Studio” rose sharply, indicating growing adoption of AI-based platforms. Streaming apps like Myco and Tamasha also trended, largely due to cricket broadcasts.
A spike in searches for NFTs highlighted increased curiosity about digital assets and innovation.
Public Information and Daily Concerns
Google searches reflected public interest in major events, including floods in Karachi and rising water levels near the Chenab River. Users sought real-time alerts, safety information and on-ground updates.
Government initiatives such as the Punjab Socio-Economic Registry, Asaan Karobar Card and PM Laptop Scheme 2025 were widely searched as citizens sought clarity on eligibility, registration and benefits.
Searches for educational updates, including Federal Board results, and information on gold prices and regional developments particularly concerning Iran also surged.
Cooking, Health and Everyday “How-To” Queries
Searches related to recipes showcased both tradition and modern tastes. Pakistanis frequently searched for mutton, beef, desserts, soups and flour-based dishes, while also exploring healthier and global options like quinoa, tofu and sandwiches.
“How-To” searches included Karachi’s newly introduced e-challan system, car insurance basics, investment guidance and even creative prompts such as creating “Ghibli-style” images — reflecting a blend of practical concerns and digital exploration.
