Small provinces will surely be created, says Aleem Khan

Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan has said that small provinces are necessary to strengthen the federal system, adding that small provinces will “surely” be created.

He gave these remarks on Sunday while addressing the workers’ convention of the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) in Sheikhupura. The minister also said that the creation of small provinces would strengthen “administrative control” and provide facilitation to the citizens.

Aleem Khan remarked while addressing that the creation of three provinces each in Sindh and Punjab will be helpful for the public. He further added that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Balochistan should also be divided into three provinces.

“All neighbouring countries around us have several small provinces,” the federal minister said.

It is necessary to mention that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), a major ally of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) at the centre, has long opposed the creation of new provinces.

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah warned last month that Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) will never support such move against Sindh province.

Murad Ali Shah gave remarks after Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) leaders said that the party will use all democratic and legal tools for the creation of a new province in Sindh.

CM Murad had said: “Stop worrying about rumours of the creation of new provinces and the division of Sindh.”
