Web Desk: Quinton de Kock, South Africa’s wicket keeper has reached new heights. He has equalled Sanath Jayasuriya’s record for the most ODI hundreds against India. He has become the 7th player to score seven or more centuries against a single team in the ODI format.

This latest century against India adds De Kock name to an elite list. This list features legends such as Saeed Anwar, Jayasuriya, Rohit Sharma, Aaron Finch, Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli.

In the match India finally won a toss after 21 international matches and decided to bowl first. They also introduced their 3rd different opening combination of the ongoing ODI series.

Aiden Markram was pushed down to No. 5 who was fresh from his match-winning 110 in Raipur. De Kock was hence partnered with Ryan Rickelton at the top. However, Rickelton fell for a second consecutive duck continuing his bad luck.

Temba Bavuma scored 48 and steadied the innings. The second wicket added 113 runs with De Kock, who was in complete control of the bat. De Kock kept the scoreboard moving even after the quick exits from Markram and Mathew Breetzke. He reached his hundred off 80 balls, bringing it up with a powerful six over square leg.

However, after his 100 Prasidh Krishna knocked back his stumps and his innings ended at 106 off 89 balls. His wicket was Prasidh’s third wicket of the match.

De Kock’s earlier centuries against India include two during the 2015 tour of India, and another in the 2022 home series and three in a 2013 home series.
