Islamabad: A meeting chaired by Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis Chaudhry Salik Hussain was held in Islamabad. The meeting approved major reforms aimed at improving travel facilitation for Pakistani citizens and illegal immigration.
In the meeting, strict action was ordered against those passengers attempting to use incomplete or fake documents to travel abroad. The meeting also said that the Protector of Emigrants issuance system will be made completely foolproof, and immigration procedures will also undergo key reforms to make sure legitimate travelers face no unnecessary hurdles. Both ministers ordered all departments concerned to submit final recommendations within seven days.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi proclaimed a decisive crackdown on the agent mafia and those elements involved in the fake visa operation. He said that, as a pilot project, an AI-based application will be launched in Islamabad from January to identify the legal status of the passenger for travel.
He also said that the AI app will help us know ahead of time who can travel and who cannot, and that the passports of deported individuals will be annulled, and a visa to such a person will not be issued again.
Naqvi added that through the National Police Bureau uniform international driving license will be issued. He emphasized that zero tolerance will be adopted against fake visas and agent mafia so that we would be able to improve the global ranking of the green passport.
During the meeting, Federal Minister Chaudhry Salik Hussain said the transparency protector system is the need of the hour, and all people traveling on labour visas must possess authentic and verified documents.
