Moeen Ali Says PSL Move Marks “A New Beginning”
Speaking about his decision, Moeen Ali said it was the right moment for a fresh chapter in his T20 career. “This is a time for new beginnings. I am extremely excited to be part of a new era in the HBL PSL,” he said.
Moeen highlighted the league’s growing reputation, noting that the competition has established itself as one of the most competitive T20 tournaments. “The PSL holds a distinguished place in T20 cricket because of its high standards and world-class talent,” he said.
Excitement About Playing in Pakistan
Reflecting on his past visits, Moeen said he always enjoyed playing in Pakistan. “There is top-quality cricket here, and the fans’ incredible passion pushes you to perform at your best,” he added. He said he looked forward to creating “wonderful memories” in the league.
Ready for a “Special Experience”
Moeen described his upcoming PSL stint as something unique. “I am ready for a new and special experience, God willing,” he said.
League officials expect Moeen’s arrival to further boost the tournament’s star power as preparations for the next season gain momentum.
Faf du Plessis also skips IPL for PSL
Former South Africa captain Faf du Plessis said he will skip the 2026 Indian Premier League auction to play in next year’s Pakistan Super League, marking a shift after more than a decade in the IPL. Du Plessis, who scored 4,773 runs in 154 IPL matches for four teams, said he now wants a fresh environment and views the PSL as an exciting new challenge. He previously appeared in the league for Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators. Although Delhi Capitals released him after a difficult 2025 season, he stressed he is not shutting the door on an IPL return in the future.
