Punjab CM Cracks Down on Illegal Land Occupation

⏱ 2 minute read
Maryam Nawaz

Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif has launched a fast-track initiative to tackle illegal occupation of land and properties across the province. She called it “a nightmare for the people for decades.”

In posts on X and Facebook, the chief minister assured citizens that anyone whose land or property has been illegally occupied can submit an application to their Deputy Commissioner (DC) office. She said, “The matter would be decided in days.”

Maryam Nawaz has instructed all Assistant Commissioners in every tehsil to receive applications related to land grabbing. She expressed displeasure over delays in cases from Gujrat, Layyah, Hafizabad, and other districts. All DCs have been directed to hold daily meetings to review progress on these cases.

Officials said 2,919 applications against illegal occupation have been received in the past three weeks. Out of these, 499 cases have already been resolved by the District Dispute Resolution Committees (DRCs).

The chief minister has ordered complete enforcement of Ordinance 2025. DCs will chair daily DRC meetings. Maryam Nawaz will personally monitor the implementation of the campaign.

To ensure public awareness, the Punjab government will make announcements in mosques. This will allow affected people to approach the administration easily.

Maryam Nawaz has further instructed that widows’ property cases receive special priority. She emphasized that the government aims to provide “immediate relief to the masses.” The focus is on resolving land grabbing complaints quickly and transparently.

The chief minister said the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to justice. Citizens can expect faster action and reduced delays. Officials have been told to be vigilant and proactive. The campaign will continue until all complaints are addressed.

The Punjab government aims to restore people’s trust in the administration. It also seeks to eliminate illegal occupation that has troubled communities for decades. By taking swift action, Maryam Nawaz hopes to set a new standard for accountability and public service in the province.
