On 27th November 2025, Netflix released the first four episodes of Stranger Things Final Season. However, there was an interesting plot twist.
As users tried to stream their favorite web-series, they were not able to. Many of the fans and users expressed their disappointment and frustration on the internet.
Over 14,000 reports were detected in US by outage detector Downdetector. Streaming errors were also reported in South Asian countries where users and fans complained about connection errors and the streaming service freezing.
“Some members briefly experienced an issue streaming on TV devices, but service recovered for all accounts within five minutes,” Netflix said in an emailed response reported by Reuters.
This is not the first time that Netflix has crashed. It has crashed before during major releases such as Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul boxing match. Similarly, they crashed while airing a reunion of reality dating show “Love” is Blind reunion. And most importantly users experienced outage back in 2022 when last two episodes of Stranger Things Season 4 were released.
Interestingly Co-creator Ross Duffer stated that Netflix had increased it bandwidth by 30 percent to avoid a crash. However, it was not enough to face the series immense popularity.
One day before the final season was released all previously released seasons of Stranger things made it to Top 10 show charts. showcasing the show’s worldwide popularity.
Set in 1980s the show follows a young girl with psychokinetic abilities found by a group of friends in a fictional town called Hawkins. The girl unknowingly opens a gateway between earth and another dimension called the “Upside Down”. The upside down is filled with blood thirsty monsters.
The final season took 3 years in the making. The Co-creators, brothers Matt and Ross Duffer have dubbed this season the most violent of all the seasons of Stranger Things and repeatedly compared it with Game of thrones.
The remaining episodes will be released on Christmas and New Year’s eve.
