Rawalpindi: Residents and students traveling to schools and colleges along Rawalpindi’s Sixth Road are facing mounting difficulties as sewerage and water pipeline projects remain stalled for over six months.

Officials admit that the projects, which were initially planned to take only a few days, have been delayed due to slow administrative coordination. Meanwhile, commuters are struggling with traffic congestion during peak school and college hours.

Construction Delays Disrupt Daily Life

Despite the presence of numerous educational institutions, construction work along Sixth Road has progressed at a snail’s pace. Residents report that poorly coordinated work between government departments has left roads partially demolished, with constant disruptions caused by alternating water, sewerage, and gas pipeline repairs.

Health Hazards Rise Amid Dust and Debris

Piles of dirt and construction dust have emerged as a major concern, particularly for pedestrians. Residents suffering from pollen allergies and respiratory issues report worsening conditions, with dust aggravating their health problems.

Calls for Faster Completion

Local citizens are urging authorities to expedite the construction and ensure proper coordination among departments. They emphasize that timely completion is crucial to restore traffic flow, reduce health hazards, and minimize inconvenience to the thousands of students commuting daily.
