Pakistan develops secure phone

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has made a major technological leap and has launched an indigenous made secure mobile phone.

The Made in Pakistan secure mobile phone has been developed for government figures and government officials.

Both the software and hardware of the mobile phone has been developed in Pakistan, this mobile phone developed under the new operating system will not connect to the internet.

SIM of any Pakistani telecom operator can be used in the secure mobile phone, there will be no backup in the mobile phone developed under the National Telecom Corporation (NTC) pilot project.

The plan details steps to protect communications of critical institutions, including the Prime Minister’s Secretariat, the Presidency, armed forces, and sensitive defense projects.

All the applications in the secure mobile phone have also been specially developed, monitoring or intercepting of the conversation from this mobile phone will not be possible, calls from the secure mobile phone will only be made to any other secure mobile phone.

MD NTC Ali Farhan presented a report on the secure phone to the higher authorities, Ali Farhan said that initially 10 secure mobile phones were developed under the pilot project, funding will be required to make more secure mobile phones.

During the recent Indo-Pak conflict, messages exchanged between government figures and officials were reportedly leaked.
