Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa had an important meeting with US President Donald Trump at the White House.

According to Arab media reports, the meeting discussed strengthening bilateral relations, regional peace, and regional and international affairs.

Trump praised the Syrian president after the meeting, saying, “I like the Syrian president and we will do everything we can to make Syria successful because it is part of the Middle East.”

After Trump’s constructive meeting with Ahmed al-Sharaa, the US Treasury Department announced the lifting of sanctions on Syria under the Caesar Act for 6 months.

The US Treasury Department said that the lifting of US sanctions would help rebuild Syria’s economy and provide prosperity for its citizens.

The Caesar Act was passed in 2019 with the aim of putting pressure on the Bashar al-Assad regime.

The Caesar Act sanctions related to U.S. business relations with the former Syrian government and military. These sanctions prohibited American companies and citizens from doing business with the Syrian government or military.

Earlier, the United States also announced in June that it would lift some sanctions on Syria, but sanctions imposed under the Caesar Syria Civilian Protection Act remained in place.
