Web Desk: Flight operations at Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport in Delhi faced significant disruptions on Friday morning after the airport’s Air Traffic Control (ATC) system experienced a technical failure, resulting from the cyber attack carried out by Pakistani Hackers, delaying around 300 flights and leaving hundreds of passengers stranded. Several other airports reportedly faced minor disruptions as well.

Cyberattack claims remain unverified

A group claiming to be based in Pakistan publicly took responsibility for the outage, warning that “this is just a warning next time, it will be 100× bigger.” Indian authorities have not yet confirmed whether the incident resulted from a cyberattack or an internal technical malfunction and investigations are ongoing.

Passenger chaos highlights operational strain

Inside the terminals, passengers reported confusion and a lack of information, with some citing long waits at check-in counters and difficulty reaching ground staff. The airport acknowledged the disruption and urged travelers to check flight statuses before arriving.

Authorities investigating cause

Aviation officials are working to restore normal operations and determine the root cause of the outage. Experts noted that the incident underscores the vulnerability of critical infrastructure to both technical failures and potential cyber threats, emphasizing the need for robust contingency planning.
