Venues for 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup finalized

LAHORE: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has finalized the venues for the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. India and Sri Lanka will co-host the mega event, scheduled from February 7 to March 8, 2026.

The matches would be played in India’s Ahmedabad, Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, and Mumbai, while Sri Lanka will host matches in Colombo and Kandy.

In case Pakistan does not qualify, the final match is likely to be played at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, the world’s largest cricket venue. In case Pakistan qualifies, the final will be played in Sri Lanka to maintain the neutrality clause, while both countries are likely to share the opening fixtures.

Under the standing agreement between the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India), organizers have arranged all of Pakistan’s matches in Sri Lanka. It is to ensure both teams play at neutral venues.

The ICC has retained the tournament format from the 2024 edition. Twenty teams will compete in four groups of five, with the top two from each group advancing to the Super Eight stage.

The leading two teams from each Super Eight group will progress to the semi-finals, culminating in the grand finale.

The official schedule and ticketing details are expected next week, while the preparations for the 2026 T20 World Cup have begun.
