Pakistan has introduced a defence tool, the Sufra drone jamming gun, which authorities say can neutralize kamikaze drones and their operators at 1.5 kilometers.

“The gun can be installed along national borders and deployed at major public events in cities,” Hamza Khalid said at the Maritime Expo in Karachi on Wednesday.

The device, developed at the National Electronics Complex, was showcased on the first day of the Maritime Expo in Karachi. The demonstrators at the event announced its launch by saying that it successfully started disabling so-called kamikaze drones.

Hamza Khalid, the manager of the company that produces the anti-drone jammer, explained about the working features of the system.

He mentioned that the gun functions accurately within a 30-degree angle and a distance of 1.5 kilometers. Hamza Khalid said that the gun’s angle can be adjustable according to tactical requirements.

The Sufran gun can either take control of an incoming drone and force it to land, or neutralize the drone and its remote control handler, Khalid added.

On the question about multiple attacks at the same time, Khalid told journalists that the gun had been designed to tackle multiple incoming drones. “No matter how many hostile drones arrive, the gun has the capability to neutralise them.”

According to officials, the gun can be set up near border areas to counter cross-border threats. Hamza Khalid confirmed that the system can also be installed at gatherings where security risks are high.
