Rawalpindi: The CNIC & Passport of Aleema Khan, sister of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, has been blocked on the orders of an Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in connection with the November 26 protest case.
According to Sources, the court issued the directive after Aleema Khan repeatedly failed to appear before the court in the case. The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) and passport authorities have submitted a compliance report confirming that her passport has been blocked as per the court’s instructions.
ATC Judge Amjad Ali Shah, who is hearing the case, had earlier ordered both Aleema Khan’s passport and national identity card to be blocked due to her continued non-compliance with summons.
Arrest Orders and Next Hearing
The court has also directed law enforcement authorities to arrest and produce Aleema Khan at the next hearing scheduled for October 30, during which five prosecution witnesses are expected to record their statements.
Sources familiar with the proceedings said that six arrest warrants have previously been issued for Aleema Khan in the same case, which stems from PTI’s protest demonstrations held on November 26, 2022, in Rawalpindi a gathering that authorities later linked to violations of security and public order regulations.
Background
The case is part of a broader series of legal proceedings against PTI leaders and supporters following multiple protests and clashes with law enforcement agencies after the party’s confrontation with the federal government last year.
Imran Khan, currently imprisoned in connection with other cases, has repeatedly denied the charges against his party members, calling them politically motivated. Government officials, however, insist that the cases are being pursued strictly under the law.
The Anti-Terrorism Court is expected to continue hearings later this week to review the witnesses’ statements and the compliance report submitted by NADRA.
