Ali Tareen tears up

Ali Tareen, the owner of Multan Sultan responded to Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) legal notice, asserting that threats will not silence him.

Tareen condemned the board’s approach, saying “It seems you are so used to surrounding yourself with ‘yes-men’ that you cannot tolerate criticism.”

“I never received a call, message, or invitation to sit and discuss matters in the office. Instead, I received a legal notice directly,” he further said.

He mentioned, “If you think this threat will make me stay quiet, it will not. I love this league, it belongs to the fans, not the handful of people running it.”

Ali Tareen indicated readiness to work with the PCB to rectify issues, stating, “If you want us to work together, we can make this league the top league in the world.”

He said, “I apologise… that I want the PSL to be better,” expressing his discontent over how the board deal with the criticism.

Multan Sultan owner ended the video by ripping up the notice.

Multan Sultan defend Ali Tareen amid PCB action

The Multan Sultan have voiced disappointment over the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) action against franchise owner Ali Tareen, describing the board’s approach “narrow minded.”

In a comprehensive statement, the franchise maintained that the cricket board demanded that its owner, Ali Tareen, “retracts all recent critical statements and issues a public apology to the PSL management”.

“Since taking over the Sultans, Ali Tareen has invested billions of rupees and personally carried losses of over PKR 7 billion, while building academies and creating opportunities for young cricketers across Pakistan,” the franchise said in a statement.

“Every statement he has made has been in the best interest of the PSL, urging the league to aim higher and do better,” it added.

“For the PCB management to treat constructive criticism as a crime is outrageous. It demonstrates the pettiness of the current management and clearly shows that the PSL is not open to questions or accountability, even from those who have given the most to make it stronger,” the franchise statement read.
