Canva Down: Check Out the Best Free Alternatives Here

⏱ 2 minute read
Canva down

Numerous recent reports on Down Detector have suggested that many Canva users are currently experiencing difficulties while using the platform. Users have reported that the website is either not functioning properly or is unresponsive to editing changes and download requests.

Canva has yet to acknowledge the issue on its official website. Such disruptions are often observed when servers become overloaded with a large number of user requests at once. Recently, the Canva website has also begun displaying 500 server error messages.

Reports about the problem started appearing on Down Detector around 8:00 AM today, and the number of complaints rose sharply within an hour. In case similar issues occur in the future, here are a few alternative platforms you can use for photo and image editing:

Promeo
Promeo is another great alternative to consider while Canva is unavailable. The app offers access to millions of royalty-free stock images and videos, along with beautiful, customizable templates that are updated daily. Its built-in generative AI and background removal tools make it easy to design visuals similar to those you’d create on Canva.

Lunacy
Lunacy is a completely free design platform with no watermarks, though a few tools require a subscription. As an open-source software, it enables collaboration among up to 100 users, allowing teams to design together in real time. The software also includes features that make editing more efficient and seamless.

It’s possible that the current Canva outage is due to a surge in users creating Diwali greetings, which may have temporarily overwhelmed the servers. The platform is expected to return to normal operation soon.

Photopea
Photopea can be thought of as an open-source equivalent of Photoshop. It allows users to access most of Photoshop’s key features, including some premium-level tools. This makes Photopea an excellent option while Canva is down, as it supports complex design capabilities and offers flexibility for advanced editing.

GIMP
GIMP is a cross-platform image editor available for GNU/Linux, macOS, Windows, and other systems. It is a free, open-source software that you can easily download. Whether you’re a graphic designer, photographer, illustrator, or even a scientist, GIMP allows you to bring your creative ideas to life through professional-grade graphics and design tools.
