Investors in housing societies should be cautious, the Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) has warned, making a big announcement. According to the details, the Commission has decided to take action against misleading publicity of housing societies in Islamabad and surrounding areas. The Marketing Intelligence Unit of the Competition Commission has collected records of advertisements and promotional materials from various societies, after which the inquiry has officially started. According to the Commission's spokesperson, legal action will be taken against housing societies involved in false and falsified claims. The public is also urged to provide evidence and complaints so that effective action can be taken against such elements. Spokesperson stated that several housing societies are misusing the name Islamabad while false claims of CDA affiliation and NOC have also surfaced. Advertisements are falsely claiming fake photos, videos, and amenities, even with celebrities exposed to misleading advertising. It was further stated that some societies are receiving additional amounts in the name of development charges while promises of unrealised profits are also being made on incomplete projects.
