Bad news for those wishing to install an electricity meter

⏱ 1 minute read

Bad news has come out for those who want to install an electricity meter. Electricity consumers will now have to pay Rs 25,000 instead of Rs 5,000 for the new connection. According to reports, the Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has put a heavy burden on the consumers in terms of the purchase of new meters. The company has allowed private companies to develop and sell AMI meters, which is likely to benefit these companies by crores of rupees. The meter which was earlier available for Rs 5,000, now users will have to buy the same meter for Rs 25,000. LESCO has issued an official notification stating that LESCO will no longer provide the meter itself but will only issue the NOC. Users must purchase these meters from private companies for new connections or replacement of faulty meters. Also read: Great news for the public regarding the new gas connection
