Schools to remain closed in these areas due to floods

WEBDESK: According to an official notification, 111 schools in Pindi Bhattian tehsil will remain closed until 12 September because of the ongoing flood situation.

The Chief Executive Officer (Education) said the extension was necessary as floodwater had damaged many school buildings. He explained that schools in affected villages would only reopen after proper safety inspections.

The District Education Authority confirmed that primary, middle and high schools in these areas would remain shut to ensure the safety of students and staff.

The Punjab School Education Department reported that floods have caused serious disruption to education across the province. It said that 2,925 government schools have been closed, while 817 schools have suffered partial damage and 45 have been completely destroyed. More than 1,700 schools are also being used as flood relief camps.
