Former Chief of General Staff (CGS) of the Pakistan Army, Muhammad Saeed, has tweeted on X that the 27th Constitutional Amendment is meant to modernise defence management, not to give more power to the military.
He wrote a tweet on X in bullet points to explain the 27th Constitutional Amendment. He said on X, “ Criticism on the 27th Constitutional Amendment – my take :-
The amendment is about *modernisation and clarity*, not concentration of power.
Purpose of the Amendment
▪ The 27th Amendment aims to modernise defence management in line with global military models.
Seeks to eliminate duplication and improve strategic coordination.
▪ Reflects the changing character of war, hybrid, MDO, etc, requiring rapid decision cycles.
▪ Creates a single, empowered advisor to handle complexities in military matters — a model adopted by all major militaries.”
