Peshawar: After the oath-taking of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sohail Afridi, the process of forming a new cabinet has started in the province, and 8 ministers are likely to be included in the first phase.
After the oath-taking of chief minister, 8 provincial ministers are now being included in the first phase of the cabinet formation, whose notification is likely to be issued by tomorrow. According to sources, the announcement of the cabinet will be made after Chief Minister Sohail Afridi meets Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder Imran Khan and gets his approval.
The personalities who are being included in the cabinet in the initial phase include Arshad Ayub Khan, Meena Khan Afridi, Adnan Qadri, Fazal Shakoor, Fakhar Jahan, Shakeel Khan, Aftab Alam and Faisal Tarakai. The first meeting of the new cabinet of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is most likely to be convened on Monday.
This is the first time that Sohail Afridi was elected as a member of the provincial assembly, contesting as an independent candidate from constituency PK-70 Khyber-II (Khyber District) in February 2024 general elections.
He was then inducted into the provincial cabinet and served as Special Assistant for Communications & Works. Later, during the cabinet expansion, he was appointed as a provincial minister, where he took charge of the Higher Education department.
On October 13, 2025 he was elected as the 30th Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by securing 90 votes in the provincial assembly. On October 15, 2025, he took oath and assumed the office of Chief Minister.
