Islamabad: US President Donald Trump has clearly stated that potential negotiations with Iran will take place in Islamabad, according to American journalist Caitlin Dornbos.
Speaking on a private TV channel ,” she said Trump considers Pakistan an important venue for these talks.
Dornbos said she was in Islamabad and scheduled to return, but contacted Trump to inform him about circulating rumors. She added that although Trump initially told her to return, he called back about 37 minutes later and advised her to stay in Islamabad.
She further revealed that Trump said the situation is rapidly changing and significant developments could occur within the next 48 hours. Following the call, she informed her editor that she would need to stay a few more days.
The journalist described it as an unusual experience that the US President personally called her again, saying it had never happened before in her career. She noted that Trump’s stance appeared to have shifted and that he did not want her to miss an important story.
According to the New York Post journalist, Trump also praised Field Marshal Asim Munir, saying the US would go where meaningful efforts are being made.
He questioned why they should go to a country not directly involved, and made it clear that talks would be held in Islamabad, attributing the choice to the role of the Pakistani military leadership. He also confirmed that he would not be part of the visiting delegation.
