Web Desk: US-based technology company Mobiz has opened a regional office in Pakistan, strengthening its presence in the country as the technology sector continues to attract international investment.
The new office has been established at the National Aerospace Science and Technology Park (NASTP) in Karachi, providing Mobiz with a base to expand its operations and tap into Pakistan’s growing pool of technology professionals.
Mobiz, headquartered in Houston, provides services in cloud computing, artificial intelligence, data and cybersecurity across international markets.
Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) Chairman Kabir Ahmed Sidhu welcomed Mobiz’s expansion, saying the growing presence of international technology companies demonstrated confidence in Pakistan’s IT workforce.
Sidhu said the country’s young and skilled workforce could help Pakistan secure a stronger position in the global technology industry.
“Pakistan has vast opportunities to become a regional technology and global services hub,” Sidhu said.
He added that greater investment by international technology companies could generate employment for young Pakistanis while creating opportunities for them to work with global businesses and markets.
Sidhu also congratulated Mobiz Global on the launch of its Karachi office and expressed hope that the company would continue to increase its footprint in Pakistan.
The expansion comes as Pakistan’s information technology industry continues to emerge as an important source of foreign exchange.
IT and IT-enabled services exports climbed to a record $4.6 billion in the 2025-26 financial year, rising 20.6% from $3.8 billion a year earlier.
Against this backdrop, the government has sought to attract further international investment and strengthen the regulatory environment for technology-driven businesses.
Sidhu said the SECP was pursuing reforms focused on transparency, digitalisation and improving the ease of doing business.
According to the SECP chairman, greater use of modern technology could help businesses cut costs and save time while strengthening transparency and operational efficiency.
Mobiz’s move follows Google’s recent decision to formally open its first local office in Pakistan, another development highlighting growing engagement by major international technology companies with the country’s digital economy.
The prime minister welcomed Google’s move, describing the establishment of a local presence as an opportunity to build a stronger and more enduring partnership with Pakistan.
The arrival and expansion of global technology companies could further support Pakistan’s efforts to position itself as a regional centre for technology, digital services and skilled IT talent.
