Web Desk: Pakistan announced its Under-19 squad for an upcoming tri-nation series in Zimbabwe and the ICC Under-19 World Cup, retaining Farhan Yousaf as captain for both tournaments, according to PCB officials.
Leadership retained, one change made
Farhan Yousaf will continue to lead the side, with Usman Khan named as vice-captain. Selectors made one change to the previously announced squad, bringing in Umar Zaib in place of Mohammad Huzifa.
Cricket officials said the adjustment was made to strengthen the squad ahead of a demanding international schedule.
Full squad announced
The Pakistan Under-19 squad includes Farhan Yousaf (captain), Usman Khan (vice-captain), Abdul Subhan, Ahmed Hussain, Ali Hassan Baloch, Ali Raza, Daniyal Ali Khan, Hamza Zahoor, Huzifa Ahsan, Umar Zaib, Momin Qamar, Mohammad Siyam, Mohammad Shayan, Naqab Shafiq and Sameer Minhas.
The tri-nation series begins in Zimbabwe
Pakistan will first compete in a tri-nation series featuring Afghanistan and host Zimbabwe. The tournament will be played in Zimbabwe from Dec. 25 to Jan. 6 in the 50-over format.
Officials said the series will provide valuable match practice ahead of the World Cup.
World Cup dates confirmed
The ICC Under-19 World Cup will be held from Jan. 15 to Feb. 6 across venues in Namibia and Zimbabwe. All matches in the tournament will also be played in the 50-over format.
Cricket authorities said the twin assignments will be crucial in assessing the team’s readiness as Pakistan aim to challenge for the youth world title.
