In a significant development following the ceasefire between the United States and Iran, US President Donald Trump shared a statement by Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on his social media platform Truth Social.
According to reports, after successful diplomatic efforts by Pakistan’s leadership—Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir—which helped avert a major conflict between the US and Iran, both sides have been presenting their positions.
While President Donald Trump highlighted his role in securing the two-week ceasefire, he also shared the official statement of Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, in which Pakistan’s leadership was praised for their effective diplomacy and efforts in preventing a major crisis in the Middle East.
In the statement, the Iranian Foreign Minister thanked Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for their role in reducing tensions and pushing for an end to hostilities in the region.
According to the statement, following Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s request and in light of a 15-point negotiation proposal from the United States, President Donald Trump agreed to consider Iran’s 10-point proposal as a basis for talks. Iran has maintained that if attacks against it cease, its armed forces will halt defensive operations.
Furthermore, Iran indicated that safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz could be ensured for two weeks, subject to coordination and technical considerations with its armed forces. These steps, according to Iranian officials, are aimed at reducing tensions and moving toward resolving issues through dialogue.
