President Donald Trump said Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has agreed to a plan to end the Gaza war and publicly thanked Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir for supporting it.

Washington outlines principles for an immediate ceasefire, hostage release, and phased Israeli withdrawal

At a White House press conference, Trump called it a big day and released his principles for peace after consultations across the region.

He said the proposal requires the immediate release of all remaining hostages within seventy two hours of acceptance.

It also calls for an immediate end to the war. Arab and Muslim countries would help demilitarise Gaza, dismantle tunnels and weapons production, and train local police.

A new transitional authority would manage governance as Israeli forces withdraw in phases under an agreed timeline.

Trump said a new international oversight body, the Board of Peace, would include Arab leaders, Israel, and himself, with more members to be announced.

Netanyahu endorses plan while Trump credits regional diplomacy and signals a wider Middle East framework

Netanyahu thanked Trump for his leadership and said the plan meets Israel’s war aims by returning hostages and ending the threat from Hamas.

Trump said the objective goes beyond Gaza and aims for a more secure Middle East. He referenced the Abraham Accords and suggested that even Iran could eventually join a broader architecture.

He also announced a trilateral mechanism with Israel and Qatar to improve communication and avoid future missteps.

According to Trump, Hamas must accept the plan or face consequences, although he indicated he expects a positive response.

Pakistan welcomes proposal as Shehbaz praises mediation and confirms nomination for a peace prize

Prime Minister Shehbaz welcomed the plan in a post on X and said durable peace between Palestinians and Israel is essential for stability and growth.

He praised Trump and envoy Steve Witkoff for their efforts and said a two state path remains necessary for lasting peace.

Shehbaz and Field Marshal Asim Munir had earlier met Trump at the Oval Office, where they discussed security cooperation.

The prime minister later told the United Nations that Trump’s mediation helped avert a wider war in South Asia.

He confirmed Islamabad’s nomination of Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize and urged all parties to support a swift ceasefire and the safe return of hostages.
