Web Desk: US President Donald Trump has made a major statement about the situation in the Middle East. He claimed that the ongoing military campaign against Iran is close to its final stage.
In an interview with CBS Trump said US forces are moving far ahead of schedule in achieving their planned targets.
Trump said early estimates suggested the conflict could last four to five weeks. He claimed US forces achieved major objectives in much less time.
The US president also made strong claims about Iran’s military strength. He said Iran’s navy is no longer operational. He also said the Iranian air force has lost its ability to operate.
Trump added that Iran’s communication systems have stopped working. He claimed the country’s military power has suffered damage that cannot be repaired.
He also said US strikes destroyed Iran’s missile stockpiles. According to Trump American forces repeatedly targeted drone production facilities. He said these attacks removed Iran’s defensive capabilities.
Trump stated that Iran now has nothing left to challenge the United States militarily.
Diplomatic activity has also increased during the conflict. Trump held a phone call with Vladimir Putin. According to the Kremlin both leaders discussed the war involving Iran and the overall situation in the region.
Consultations are also taking place among the G7 countries. These talks focus on the possible post war situation and the impact on the global economy.
Defense experts describe Trump’s statement as an attempt to create psychological advantage. However the situation on the ground remains complex.
Iranian officials including Abbas Araghchi continue to warn about possible surprises. Their statements suggest that Iran could continue resistance for a longer period.
Trump presents the campaign as a success. However the involvement of Russia and G7 countries shows that global powers want to stop the conflict from expanding further.
Officials in Washington DC believe that Operation Epic Fury has entered its final phase. Yet determination from leadership in Tehran could challenge this claim.
Trump also reacted to leadership changes in Iran. He criticized the selection of Mojtaba Khamenei as the new supreme leader.
In a statement from the White House Trump called the decision a major strategic mistake. He warned that the move could push Iran toward deeper global isolation and tougher conditions.
His statement comes at a time when tensions between the United States and Iran remain extremely high during Operation Epic Fury. Both countries continue to take strong military and economic measures against each other.
