Trump administration triples self-deportation incentive

The Trump Administration has sharply increased the incentives for migrants who agree to voluntarily leave the United States. The stipend was raised to $3000 by the Department of Homeland Security on Monday. This stipend is triple the previous amount.

The offer will apply to people living in the US illegally and will commit to signing up for self-deportation through the CBP Home app within this year. According to DHS, in addition to the cash stipend, the government will be providing a free flight to migrant’s home countries.

The administration introduced a revamped mobile application called CBP Home earlier this year. The app is supposed to streamline the voluntary departure process.

The officials have framed the program as both a warning and an opportunity. According to DHA Secretary Kristi Noem, the migrants should accept the offer while it’s still available.

She made it clear that the migrants who refuse to leave voluntarily will face arrest and deportation. Noem made it clear that anyone who is removed through enforcement will be permanently banned from returning to the United States.

Immigration enforcement has become a central priority since President Donald Trump came back to office in January. He pledged that the deportations would be carried out at historic levels.

The administration promised to remove 1 million people annually, but so far it has removed 622,000 people this year.

The immigration crackdown will be escalated by the Trump administration in 2026. Billions of dollars will fund the effort.
