The prize money distribution for the 2026 ICC T20 World Cup has been revealed, with the champion Indian cricket team receiving the largest share after successfully defending their title and setting several new records during the tournament.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) had allocated a record prize pool of $13.5 million for this year’s tournament. As the champions, India received $3 million along with the trophy. New Zealand, who finished as runners-up, earned $1.6 million, while the two semi-finalists, South Africa and England, were awarded $960,000 each.

Teams finishing between 5th and 12th place received $450,000 each, while every participating team was also awarded $300,000 as a participation fee.
It is worth noting that India won the T20 World Cup title for the third time. They first lifted the trophy in 2007 after defeating Pakistan in the inaugural edition held in South Africa. India claimed their second title in 2024, defeating South Africa in the tournament jointly hosted by the United States and the West Indies.

This time, India secured their third title on home soil, defeating New Zealand in the final. The team has now reached the T20 World Cup final four times.

In the 2014 T20 World Cup final in Bangladesh, India had lost to Sri Lanka. However, in the 2026 final, India set a new record by scoring 255 runs, the highest total ever in a T20 World Cup final. They also became the first team to cross the 200-run mark in a T20 World Cup final, surpassing their own previous record of 176 runs, which they had set in the 2024 final.
