The team has been hit by health issues ahead of the upcoming tri-series, the Sri Lankan Cricket Board announced Monday. Captain Charith Asalanka and player Fernando have returned home after falling ill, the Sri Lankan cricket board said.
Leadership Changes Ahead
As a result, both players will not participate in the tri-series. Meanwhile, Dasun Shanaka will take over the team’s captaincy for the series, the board added. Sri Lankan Cricketers withdraw could not affect the matches scheduled between the teams, rather their replacements will take part int the contest.

The Sri Lankan Cricket Board emphasized that the team will continue to compete, despite the absence of its key members, and preparations are underway to adjust the squad and strategy for the remaining matches.
