Karachi: Pakistan’s fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi has sustained a minor foot injury ahead of the tri-nation T20 series, according to PCB officials. The injury, affecting the fascial tissue in his foot, has prompted the team’s medical staff to keep him under close observation.
“The player’s fitness and full recovery remain our top priority,” said the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). The final decision on Afridi’s availability will be made only after his health improves and he receives full medical clearance.
Team Management Monitors Progress
Afridi will rest for the next two matches in the series, sources indicated, as the medical team conducts continuous evaluations of his condition. Team management emphasized that his rehabilitation takes precedence over immediate participation.
Pakistan Opens Series with Victory
Pakistan defeated Zimbabwe by five wickets in the opening match of the tri-nation T20 series. The team is now preparing to face Sri Lanka, but Afridi’s presence remains uncertain due to the foot injury.
Officials remain optimistic about his recovery, noting that careful management will allow Afridi to return to the field at peak fitness.
