Web Desk: The ICC has named South African left-arm spinner Senuran Muthusamy as the Men’s Player of the Month for October 2025. Muthusamy beat strong rivals like Pakistan’s Nauman Ali and Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan to win the award.

All-round performance in the Test series against Pakistan

Muthusamy showed excellent performance with both ball and bat during the two-Test series against Pakistan in October. He scored a total of 106 runs while taking 11 wickets, and during that time he averaged 18.36.

In the first Test, although South Africa suffered a defeat, Muthusamy showed the best bowling figures of his career, achieving figures of 11/174. In the second Test, he also excelled with the bat, playing an unbeaten innings of 89 runs to give the team a decisive lead.

Muthusamy’s joy and future ambitions

In his comments after receiving the award, Muthusamy said,
“It is a matter of pride for me to win the ICC Player of the Month award, especially in Test cricket a format in which every player wants to prove his mettle. Playing in Pakistan was a wonderful experience, and I am grateful to my teammates who have always supported me.”

Permanent place in the team

Muthusamy has cemented his place in South Africa’s spin unit in recent years. His performances have established him as a reliable all-rounder for the team.
After a 1-1 draw in the two-Test series, South Africa, the current winners of the World Test Championship, are fourth on the points table.
