Web Desk: Police in Bannu foiled a suspected terrorist attack after recovering a motorcycle loaded with explosives near Mandan Gate, authorities said.
The motorcycle was found abandoned outside the city entrance after its tire reportedly burst, prompting the suspected attackers to flee before they could take the vehicle into the city.
According to police, unidentified suspects were allegedly attempting to bring the explosives-laden motorcycle into the city when the vehicle developed a problem near Mandan Gate.
The suspects abandoned the motorcycle and escaped from the area.
Police and a Bomb Disposal Squad team quickly reached the site and inspected the vehicle. During the examination, they discovered explosive material concealed on the motorcycle.
The Bomb Disposal Squad safely neutralized the explosive material, preventing what police described as a potential terrorist attack.
After securing the site, authorities moved the motorcycle to a police station for further investigation.
Meanwhile, police have launched a search for the suspects involved and are working to determine where the motorcycle came from and who was behind the alleged plot.
Authorities have not yet identified the suspects or disclosed the quantity and type of explosive material recovered from the motorcycle.
The incident comes amid continued security concerns in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where law enforcement agencies have stepped up operations against militant networks.
