Islamabad: Intense firing and artillery exchange took place in the Kharlachi area across the Pak-Afghan border between Pakistani security forces and the Afghan Taliban, resulting in the death of a key commander.

According to security sources, Nusratullah alias Kochi, an Uluswal (local commander) of the Afghan Taliban, was killed in a targeted artillery strike carried out by Pakistani forces. Sources stated that the operation was conducted based on specific intelligence information.

Officials said the action was taken after elements of the Afghan Taliban allegedly violated Pakistan’s territorial boundaries. In response, security forces launched an immediate and effective counter-operation, targeting positions across the border.

Earlier on March 3 the official had claimed that 464 Afghan Taliban fighters were killed, while more than 665 were injured during the ongoing operation. In addition to personnel losses, the operation reportedly resulted in the destruction of 188 check posts and the capture of 31 strategic posts.
