Security forces in North Waziristan have completed a large-scale operation under Operation Azm-e-Istehkam, during which 30 terrorists were killed and multiple hideouts were destroyed, according to security sources.
The operation was launched on the night of May 17 and concluded on the evening of May 20.
Security sources said that special forces, infantry units, armoured units, sniper teams, and aerial surveillance systems were jointly used during the operation. At the beginning of the action, different teams were secretly infiltrated into the area, maintaining complete surprise.
Sources added that the areas of Abba Khel, Patti Khel, and Bobali were surrounded to restrict terrorist movement, while terrorists were targeted through aerial surveillance and ground operations. During the operation, 30 terrorists were killed, including high-value commander Tor Saqib, whose head bounty was set at 3 million rupees.
Security forces also recovered 13 bodies of terrorists, while traces of 7 to 8 additional bodies were found through surveillance systems. According to security sources, two bodies were taken away by local residents, while five bodies were swept away in flash floods in the River Kaitu, and search operations are ongoing.
During the operation, 11 improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were recovered and defused. In addition, nine underground bunkers and seven terrorist hideouts were destroyed, including the Bobali center and the Minar Mosque center. Two suspects were also detained.
Security forces also recovered a large cache of weapons and equipment, including three automatic weapons, one M16 rifle, one double-barrel gun, one pistol, grenades, hundreds of bullets, magazines, communication equipment, mobile phones, Afghan SIM cards, and Pakistani currency.
