A domestic dispute in Sehrapur village Uttar Pradesh turned violent after an argument over samosas.
Shivam of Anandpur was hospitalised and four relatives of his wife now face attempt to murder charges, according to police.
Argument over snacks turns violent
Police said the dispute began on August 30 when Shivam did not bring samosas for his wife Sangeeta.
The quarrel escalated as tempers rose. Sangeeta reportedly called her parents Usha and Ramladaite and her maternal uncle Ramotar to intervene the next day.
What started as a household tiff grew into a wider family confrontation in the village.
Panchayat meeting ends in assault
A panchayat met on August 31 in the presence of former village head Avdhesh Sharma to settle the dispute.
The gathering broke down and violence followed. According to the complaint, Shivam was attacked by Sangeeta and her relatives during the meeting.
Family members tried to separate both sides but the clash spread quickly. Shivam received injuries and was moved to hospital for treatment.
Villagers later shared phone videos that showed the beating and chaos.
Police action and investigation
Shivam’s mother Vijay Kumari submitted a written complaint to police. An FIR was registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita including attempt to murder.
Officers said four family members are named and more statements will be recorded. The viral video has been taken as supporting evidence.
Medical reports and witness accounts will guide further action.
The case highlights how small domestic arguments can spiral into serious violence.
Police say the investigation continues and legal action will follow based on facts collected from the scene and the panchayat participants.
