Restore Tolerance to Rebuild Society, says PM Shehbaz

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that if tolerance and forbearance are restored, Pakistani society will stand on its own feet again.

Addressing a ceremony marking the International Day of Tolerance in Islamabad, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated that the event on tolerance is imminent.

Prime Minister remarked that Pakistan came into existence under the great leadership of Quaid-e-Azam. In his speech on August 11, Quaid-e-Azam explained what Pakistan should be like, and that tolerance is the foundation of the establishment of Pakistan, he added.

He said in his address that Quaid-e-Azam wanted a Pakistan that had tolerance and forbearance. People from all classes were involved in the Pakistan Movement. Under the great leadership of Quaid-e-Azam, Pakistan came into existence with the sacrifices of millions of Muslims, PM noted.

 Prime Minister concluded that today, the time has come again for us to promote Islamic teachings. The teachings of all religions teach the lesson of promoting peace, brotherhood, and mutual relations.

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have paid tribute to the security forces for their successful operations against terrorists in Bajaur and Bannu.


President Asif Zardari described the elimination of 23 Fitna al-Khawarij terrorists as an effective strategy of the security forces.


He said that the killing of several terrorists, including the Khawarij leader, in Bajaur is a clear message to the elements hostile to peace, that there is no room for terrorism operating with foreign backing on the soil of Pakistan.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated that security forces are achieving great successes against terrorism.  The entire nation stands with Pakistan’s forces in this war against terrorism, determined to completely eradicate all forms of terrorism from the country, he added.

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also paid tribute to the security forces for their successful operations against Indian-sponsored terrorists.
