A comprehensive set of 14-point security measures for private educational institutions has been enforced by The Rawalpindi District Education Authority. The rules will be immediately implemented across the district.

Muhammad Tariq, District Education Authority Chief Executive Officer warned that strict action will be taking by authorities against any institution that fails to comply with the new requirements.

Private school administrations have been directed by him to complete all mandated security arrangements. They are also supposed to submit compliance report within the given deadline.

The private educational institutes must install a 2-feet barbed wire on top of an at least eight feet high wall according to the revised SOPs.  CCTV cameras must also be installed in schools and their uninterrupted functionality must be ensured. They should have UPS support and proper backup systems.

According to the new SOPs, full CCTV coverage is required on both outside and inside school premises, the installation of operational metal detectors and the establishment of a functional control room. Verified security guards must be appointed by schools who carry authorized weapons and wear proper uniforms.

It has also become mandatory for schools to have a register for visitors at entry points. The register should also display emergency contact numbers. Institutions must mark emergency exits clearly, conduct regular safety mock drills and place visible security instruction posters.

Muhammad Tariq, the CEO has emphasized that zero tolerance will be showed for authorities for negligence related to student safety. School owners and Principals have been instructed to implement the SOPs without delay. Legal action will be taken against violators.
