Web Desk: The Rawalpindi administration has rejected the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) request to hold a rally at Liaqat Bagh. The decision comes after a review by the District Intelligence Committee, which assessed the current law and order and security situation in the city.
Deputy Commissioner of Rawalpindi explained that under the prevailing circumstances, including the enforcement of Section 144, a large political gathering could pose significant security risks. He added that Liaqat Bagh is considered a sensitive location and organising a rally there would require extensive security resources.
The Deputy Commissioner further cited logistical and administrative constraints, noting that ongoing energy shortages and austerity measures limit the resources available to manage large public gatherings. He said mobilizing the necessary personnel and infrastructure for a rally of this scale would be extremely challenging under current conditions.
Ultimately, the Deputy Commissioner stated that the rejection of PTI’s request was made in line with recommendations from the District Intelligence Committee, emphasizing that the decision prioritizes public safety and security.
