WEBDESK: The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rain, thunderstorms, strong winds and hail in several parts of the country today on Thursday.
According to the department, rain with thunder and gusty winds is expected in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad, the Potohar region, north-eastern Punjab, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
Some areas may see heavy downpours and hail, especially in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Potohar, Kashmir and nearby hilly regions. Islamabad and surrounding areas are also likely to receive rain with thunder and strong winds.
Murree, Galiyat, Jhelum, Attock and Chakwal have also been forecast rain. Other Punjab cities, including Lahore, Sialkot, Khushab, Sargodha, Narowal, Hafizabad, Faisalabad, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Kasur and Gujranwala, are expected to see thunderstorms and rain.
In southern Balochistan, skies will remain partly cloudy, while light showers may occur in some coastal parts of Sindh.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, rain and thunder are expected in both upper and central districts, including Dir, Chitral, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Battagram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Buner, Malakand, Bajaur, Mohmand, Charsadda, Nowshera, Mardan, Swabi, Khyber, Orakzai, Kurram, Peshawar, Kohat, Hangu, Karak and Waziristan.
Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan may also see rain, strong winds and hail.
The Met Office added that during the last 24 hours, most parts of the country remained hot and dry. However, some places in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa received rain, while Karachi recorded light drizzle.
