Punjab declares public holiday on September 6

WEBDESK: The Punjab government has announced a public holiday on Saturday, 12th Rabi-ul-Awal, to mark Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH).

All government offices across the province will remain closed. The civil secretariat, which is normally closed on Saturdays, will follow its usual routine.

Hospitals will continue to provide emergency services, but administrative offices and outpatient departments (OPDs) will remain shut.

The holiday comes as part of the annual celebrations of the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Various religious and cultural events are expected across Punjab.

According to Ruet-i-Hilal, Pakistan’s official moon-sighting body, the Rabi-ul-Awal moon was not seen. This confirms that Eid Milad-un-Nabi will fall on September 6.

With the holiday on Saturday, all the citizens of Punjab will enjoy a two day weekend.
