Islamabad: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has indicated that it may block mobile SIMs registered on invalid or expired identity documents, issuing an important warning to users across the country.

In its latest advisory, the PTA stated that SIM cards registered against expired Computerized National Identity Cards (CNICs) could be blocked at any time if users fail to update their records.

The authority further clarified that SIMs issued in the name of deceased individuals are also under scrutiny and may be permanently disconnected as part of the verification process.

According to the PTA officials , SIMs linked to expired identification documents will not be restored once blocked, making it essential for users to ensure their documents are valid and up to date.

The Authority has urged citizens to immediately renew their CNICs through National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) to avoid any disruption in mobile services.

Officials stressed that thecompaign is aimed at ensuring a secure and transparent telecom system, warning that failure to comply with these instructions could result in loss of mobile connectivity for affected users.
