Eid-ul Adha in Pakistan

Astronomers say there is a possibility that Eid al-Adha may be observed on the same day in both Pakistan and Saudi Arabia if the sky remains clear for moon sighting.

According to experts, the moon of Zil Hajj was born at 1:01 AM between Saturday and Sunday night.

Astronomers stated that the sighting of the Eid al-Adha moon depends on clear weather conditions, and if the skies remain clear, there is a strong possibility of sighting the moon. At sunset today, the moon’s age will be slightly over 18 hours.

The time difference between sunset and moonset has increased from 40 minutes to as much as 63 minutes. In Karachi, this difference was recorded at 55 minutes, while in Peshawar it reached 63 minutes.

However, the official announcement about the sighting of the Zil Hajj moon will be made by Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee after receiving testimonies from different parts of the country. Meetings of zonal moon-sighting committees are also expected to be held in major cities to review reports of moon visibility.

In case the moon is not sighted due to weather conditions or other factors, Zil Qadah will complete 30 days and Eid al-Adha in Pakistan is likely to be observed a day later. Religious lesders have advised citizens to wait for the official declaration before making arrangements related to Eid celebrations and sacrificial rituals.
