Web Desk: Pakistan will observe ‘Youm-e-Tashakkur’ on Friday, April 10, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced, linking the move to the recent ceasefire between Iran and the United States and Islamabad’s diplomatic role in easing tensions.

The prime minister urged citizens to offer prayers for the success of ongoing and upcoming negotiations between Tehran and Washington, expressing hope that the pause in hostilities would lead to a broader agreement.

Meanwhile, the federal cabinet convened in Islamabad under Sharif’s leadership to assess the evolving regional landscape following the truce. Ministers reviewed Pakistan’s diplomatic engagement and discussed the wider implications of the ceasefire for regional stability.

During the session, cabinet members commended Syed Asim Munir for his contribution to mediation efforts between Iran and the United States. Participants expressed their approval by tapping their desks, a customary gesture during official meetings.

In addition, officials described the ceasefire as a significant step toward de-escalation, while stressing that sustained dialogue remains essential for long-term peace. The government reiterated its commitment to supporting diplomatic efforts aimed at resolving tensions through negotiations.
