Web Desk: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed deep concern on Monday after a missile was intercepted over Khor Fakkan port in the United Arab Emirates, leaving four civilians injured, including three Pakistani nationals.

In a post on X, Sharif said he was “deeply concerned” about the incident, noting that Pakistan was in close coordination with UAE authorities to provide necessary assistance to its citizens. He prayed for the “swift recovery” of the injured and emphasized Pakistan’s solidarity with the UAE, urging restraint and de-escalation in the region.

The Sharjah Media Office reported that the fire broke out after debris from a missile intercepted by UAE air defenses struck near the port on Sunday. Emergency teams responded promptly, bringing the fire under control. The statement said a Nepalese national sustained serious injuries and was hospitalized, while three Pakistani nationals suffered minor to moderate injuries.

A drone approaching from Iran was detected near a telecom building at the site, although it was unclear whether the drone directly caused any damage. The incident highlights rising security concerns in Gulf ports amid ongoing regional tensions.

The attack comes amid heightened conflict in the Gulf, with Iran launching missile and drone strikes in retaliation during the ongoing US-Israeli war. Recent reports indicate that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed to have shot down multiple US aircraft, including C-130 transport planes and Black Hawk helicopters, in Isfahan province.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump warned Iran that it would face severe consequences if it did not reopen the Strait of Hormuz, a key global oil route that has remained effectively closed for weeks. Analysts warn that continued missile and drone attacks across the Gulf could destabilise the region further, threatening civilians and critical infrastructure.
